This is such an intriguing piece. It’s rare that we get a pencil cover that’s actually done on the cover stock. The cover matches up perfectly with the completed cover and it’s suspected that it was lightboxed by whomever inked it. This is the only completely original cover that exists for this issue. It’s actually nice to see the pure pencils for a cover. The stat, though original, looks like it was added later from an issue probably somewhere between issue 48 and 59. If it was inked it would sell for between $15,000–$25,000. So I think at $5,500 it seems like a bargain.
